Book Review: Beneath The Glitter by Elle & Blair Fowler

After their make-up and fashion videos went viral on YouTube, sisters Sophia and Ava London are thrust into the exclusive life of the Los Angeles elite.  Here fabulous parties, air kisses, paparazzi and hot guys all come with the scene. Sophia finds herself torn between a gorgeous bartender and a millionaire playboy, and Ava starts dating an A-list actor.  But as they’re about to discover, the life they’ve always dreamed of comes with a cost.
Beneath the glitter of the Hollywood social scene lies a world of ruthless ambition, vicious gossip…and betrayal.  Someone close to them, someone they trust, is working in the shadows to bring the London sisters falling down. And once the betrayal is complete, Sophia and Ava find themselves knee-deep in a scandal that could take away everything they care about, including the one thing that matters most—each other.
Fashion and beauty bloggers Elle and Blair Fowler have a hit.  They cover everything from beauty and fashion, boys, celebrities and murder. I can't wait to ready the next book in the series.

Book Review: Is Everybody Hanging Out Without me? by Mindy Kaling

Mindy hands out advice to young girls that is not only useful but what a cool older sister should be telling them.  I laughed all the way through this book.  Mindy's sense of humor is hysterical and will keep you glued to the book.  It will be over before you are ready for it to be.  In addition there are some great tales about Hollywood and her life on the way to Hollywood and staring on the Office.

Book Review: Facing the Music and Living to Talk about It by Nick Carter

Nick Carter lets you in on his life and journey to recovery.  He gives great advice that he has learned along his journey through a rough childhood and a problem with addiction as an adult. Even if you don't have an addiction problem these lessons are useful.  Nick also lets us into the behind the scenes of the Backstreet Boys and his relationship with Paris Hilton.

Book Review: The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe

This book wasn't anything like what I thought it would be.  It was better.  This is a love story and beautifully tragic one. As we read we get to know the love between a mother and her son and how they cope with saying goodbye.  This is also the love story of a mother and son and books.  And lastly it's the story of a remarkable woman who the world could use more of. I highly recommend this book to anyone.  It's all about the little things that bond us together.

What's new

It's been busy lately with school and everything. I did manage to do a little shopping and will share with you what I got very soon.  I have been reading a lot lately as well. Right now i'm reading Nick Carter's autobiography, 11/22/63  by Stephen King and The end of your life book club.  I am really enjoying all three of them.  I am so glad that the new TV season has started but I am already behind.. The DVR is full lol. I am in love with the new show Reign as well as my old favorites 2 broke girls, Law and Order SVU, criminal minds and about a million others.  What are some of your favorites? There are a lot of new movies out in theaters right now.  I might go see Gravity in 3D.  I heard it was great.  I also am so excited about catching fire.  I already bought my tickets.  I have really gotten back into twitter (@cindymadrid08) and instagram (cindymadrid08) again.  I can't get enough.  What can't you get enough of lately?
New post coming soon I promise

September Fave's

Hey dolls!! I thought i'd share with you some of my favorite things from this past month.  I love the Nicole Richie perfume.  It smells so good and the bottle is just gorgeous.  Next is the Suave dry shampoo.  I love the fact that this product is only like $3 and it has a heavenly fruity scent.  The Sally Hansen double duty base and top coat is the only top coat I will use.  It really helps the polish last longer and prevents chips.  The Jergens cherry almond scented hand cream is so soft and the scent last a long time.  Recently Cover Girl introduced their glosstinis mini nail polishes.  I have Bahama mama which is a very sparkly coral color. I also have pina colada, a pretty yellow color. A new find this month which I am head over heels for is the Rimmel stay glossy lip gloss.  I currently own the the non stop glamour, lights camera action, always lovely, unlimited gold and endless summer.  Of course I always have my blistex around. Last but definitely not least are the Rimmel scandaleyes eyes shadow sticks. I have paranoid purple, blamed blue, blackmail and bulletproof beige.  These are shadow sticks but I love to use them like eye liner.  The black reminds me of my favorite eyeliner from benefit the bad gal big eyeliner stick. What are some of your favorites.  Leave a comment below
Every girl deserves a man who will ruin her lipstick and not her mascara.

Purse Haul

I was so excited when I got this beautiful tan Guess bag as a gift from my mom.  I had been wanting it forever.  It is huge and holds everything I need and everything I don't need.  One of my favorite features is the braided handle.
I don't know why this looks pink in this picture but it is really grey.  I purchased this from Just Fab and it is faux ostrich.  This bag is huge.  Definitely not a bag you would use everyday but it will work great for a work bag or for an overnight trip.  It's like a mini suitcase.  Love it

This beautiful bag is by Elle and is available from Kohls.  The leather is like butter, so soft.  It has three big sections inside and slots for your phone and a few other things.  I also love the outside zippered section that is perfect for your keys.  As a bonus it comes with a cute white leather bow key-chain. This bag is large enough for me since I live big purses.  It also fits over my shoulder really well.

Book Review: Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Sam and her friends rule the school and they aren't nice about it either.  They define the term mean girls.  One Friday night while driving home drunk from a party something terrible happens and Sam dies.  The weird thing is Sam wakes up the next morning and it is Friday all over again.  For seven days Sam relives her last day over and over again.  Each time with surprising differences.  Sam has to die in order to be able to really get to know herself.  Very unique plot twist with the main character dying and reliving her day over. I gave it four out of five stars.  The author has a trilogy called Delirium that is soon being made into a tv show that I look forward to reading.  I'll keep you updated.

Book Review: Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman

CeeCee Honeycutt has had a hard life and for twelve years she has held on.  On one tragic day everything comes tumbling down and CeeCee's world falls apart.  Since she is only twelve decisions are made for her and she doesn't like them.  As the summer rolls on CeeCee begins to realize that what she thought was wrong for her was what she needed all along.  A five star read there ever was one. Usually a book offers up one character that you fall in love with but this one has half a dozen. One of my favorite books.  I'll definitely be encouraging everyone to read it. I can't wait to see what the author writes next.

"It's how we survive the hurts in life that bring us strength and give us our beauty"

Product Spotlight: XOXO Body Splash & Shower Gel

My first Bodycology products!!! This smells so sweet.  I love it.  With a blend of lemon sorbet, raspberries and musk you'll be captivated by the sweet scent. I can't wait to try some of the other scents.

Book Review: Pretty in Plaid by Jen Lancaster

The subtitle "A life, a witch, and a wardrobe, or the wonder years before the condescending, egomanical, self centered smart-ass phase." One of the funniest memoir I have ever read.  Jen takes you from her early fashion decisions and disasters at age eight to her blunders and discoveries at age forty.  As a lover of fashion and someone with my own fashion disaster stories I laughed all the way through this book.

Book Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Wow where do I begin? I loved this book! Tris must choose which faction she wants to join and that one choice will change her whole life.  Soon to be a major motion picture starring Shailene Woodley from the TV show The Secret Life of an American Teenager and the Fault in our Stars movie. One of the best and most Popular Dystopian books out there.  Did I mention Four?  You will love him.  This book will definitely go on my favorites shelf.

Book Review: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Freshman year of high school can be tough.  But if you're one of the lucky ones who meets some great friends it can be a blast.  Charlie is one of the lucky ones. Written as series of letter you get to know Charlie and his friends and family.  I personally loved the concept of the letters as opposed to regular chapters.  It was fun and different.  I totally didn't see the surprise twist at the end but looking back am not surprised.  I really enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing he movie.

Ulta, Target Haul

Had some stocking up to do. Hit up my favorite store Target and got the Sonia Kashuk brush and spronge cleaner spray.  I've heard great things about it. Also picked up some grey nail polish by NYC called side-walkers   I'm thinking it's going to be a dark neutral  Finally I get to play around with the tattoo eye shadow.  I've been dying to try it.  Let me know if you have already.  The colors I got are tough as taupe and bad to the bronze.  Next stop was Ulta for some baby lips and nail polish.  I picked up a really cute coral polish by Essie called tart deco and one of the newer polishes by OPI call a woman's Prague a tiv.  It's a pretty bronze.  Ta Ta for now

Target Haul

I love target and their clearance shelves.  I found Say yes to cucumbers face wipes and neutrogena makeup remover wipes for half price.  Score!!! I also picked up some JR Watkins grapefruit scented hand soap.  I love the vintage label. Of course what would be a trip to target without some new lip balm.  They had a cute hello kitty strawberry lip balm in the dollar area and I also picked up the raspberry lemonade blistex.  It was a small trip but a good one.  What is your favorite thing to shop for at target?

Book Review: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

The author has managed to write a love story on par with the notebook. But this isn’t your typical love story. This isn’t a story full of romance. This is a story of heartbreak, theirs and yours. This is a story of two kids who live everyday to not what society would deem the fullest but what they decide is the fullest. It shouldn’t be any other way. This book lives up to all the hype and I highly recommend it.

Products i've used up recently

Avon Naturals Almond and Milk lotion. I love this scent from Avon. Unfortunately they only had it for a limited time. These are some of the best makeup remover wipes around. I always keep some mints on my desk and these are the best. How can you not love Nivea Creme? The scent is heavenly. This formula is great when you have really dry skin. Jasmine is probably my favorite scents of the OPI lotions. They all are great. I love how light this lotion is. And a winter must have Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream. Love It!!!

Quick and easy makeup bag cleanup

Every now and then we need to clean out our makeup bag. This keeps everything organized, helps us rediscover things we hadn't been using and lets us know what new products we need. So here is a quick little checklist. 1. Empty all the contents onto a clean flat surface such as a counter top. You want to use a surface that is easy to clean up just in case something spills. 2. Get rid of anything that is old and expired. Toss broken pencils and lipsticks. If your mascara or liquid eyeliner is more than four months old toss it. 3. Wipe down everything from the bag to all the products with a damp cloth. Let dry. 4. Now it’s time to reassess everything. Are you using everything? Do you really need everything here or can you get rid of something? Is there anything that you need to purchase or restock up on? 5. In an organized fashion, repack everything into the bag. You also might want to consider some of the nice organizing trays that are available. Try to keep like products together so that you can find things fast. If you do this on a regular basis it doesn't take too long. I hope this helped. Ciao

Walmart Haul

OK did a little shopping at Walmart and I thought i'd show you the cool stuff I got. First Is this cute owl mug that I just had to have. It comes with conversation hearts inside.
I bought Suave's everlasting sunshine lotion to go in my bathroom. I love the scent it has and it lasts for a long time. I also love that it's thin but not too thin and also not too thick. Next is the Nivea smooth sensation lotion. Nivea makes the best lotions and cremes ever. They have a wonderful scent to them. I wish they would make a perfume. Next is the Neutrogena naturals fresh cleansing and makeup remover. This line of products just came out and I was dying to give it a try after receiving samples of it at a hotel recently. I'll let you know how it works. Of course you must always have a billion blistex and chapsticks around. This is the blistex medicated lip-balm with SPF 15.I love vampires, so of course I had to have the vampire perfume from body fantasies. It kind of smells like cotton candy. Also it came with a purse spray which is awesome. I also have been meaning to try the strawberry fields tic tacs and I wasn't disappointed. They're pink and raise money for breast cancer research how could you not love them. Next is Cover Girls contouring blush in refined rose, eye-shadow singles in mink and bedazzled biscotti. These are some very neutral colors and staples in my makeup bag. I love that the bedazzled biscotti has some sparkle to it.
I have heard some amazing reviews about the author John Green and this book in particular, the fault in our stars. Can't wait to read it. Let me know if you have read it and what you think.

Hello Kitty

Just so you know i love Hello Kitty. I have since I was very little. My favorite store when I was little was the Sanrio Hello Kitty store and its wall of stickers. I could spend hours in there. Well I just found out that McDonald's has Hello Kitty toys for their happy meals and yes this made me happy. I desperately wanted the nerdy Hello Kitty reading a book but they all were cute. So this afternoon I ran (OK drove) down to my nearest Golden Arches and grab a happy meal. Guess which doll I got? Yes the nerdy one. Isn't she cute. Been doing the happy dance ever since.
