Movie Review: Criminal

I was lucky enough to score some free passes to screen to the new Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Costner movie Criminal. Let me give you a quick plot synopsis.  Kevin Costner plays a crazy convict who has a deceased CIA agents, played by Ryan Reynolds, memories implanted into his brain so that the CIA can get all of the information the agent had regarding a terrorist. I really enjoyed this movie.  I love movies with lots of action and this one definitely delivered.  I also love smart movies.  Basically a movie that makes me think always makes me love it more and criminal definitely made me think about whether or not this could actually happen.  This movie is in theaters April and I highly recommend that you go see it.

This Week I Am...

This week I am…
Looking Forward to… having a yard sale this weekend.  I can’t wait to get rid of all this clutter from around the house.  A lot of what I am selling if the result of a massive closet clean out.  Cleaning out the closet is a huge task but a necessary one at least once a year.
Planning… My next vacay!! I love a road trip.  I try to plan one every year.  This year my mom and I are hitting the south.  Our first stop is Houston to see the family and then on the New Orleans.  From there we will hit Panama Beach Florida and then on to North Carolina.  After visiting the family in North Carolina we will head back home to Colorado with a stop in Memphis to see Graceland.  I hope Graceland is as cheesy as I am expecting.
Reading…  I started on the book Crossfire by James Patterson.  It is the next book in the Alex Cross series.  I love this series and I am close to being caught up.  I highly recommend this series if you love good murder mysteries.  I have to say the movies made from these books have been very disappointing.
Can’t Wait For… The Entourage movie.  I loved the TV show and am so glad they made a movie with these characters.
Loving… All of the new makeup I recently purchased.  Avon has lip liners on sale right now so I got four of those.  I also purchased from Avon a couple of the Dew Kiss lip balms and two lipsticks in the colors of mauve ice and totally twig.  The Dew Kiss lip balms are a must have.  Additionally I picked up a couple of eye shadows.  The first one is from Maybelline in silken taupe and the second one is the cover girl quad shadow in pure romance.
Watching… Season finales!! All of my favorite shows are ending for the season.  I don’t know how I’ll get through the summer without The Vampire Diaries, Reign or Scandal.

Grieving… The loss of the Mindy Project.

What's new

It's been busy lately with school and everything. I did manage to do a little shopping and will share with you what I got very soon.  I have been reading a lot lately as well. Right now i'm reading Nick Carter's autobiography, 11/22/63  by Stephen King and The end of your life book club.  I am really enjoying all three of them.  I am so glad that the new TV season has started but I am already behind.. The DVR is full lol. I am in love with the new show Reign as well as my old favorites 2 broke girls, Law and Order SVU, criminal minds and about a million others.  What are some of your favorites? There are a lot of new movies out in theaters right now.  I might go see Gravity in 3D.  I heard it was great.  I also am so excited about catching fire.  I already bought my tickets.  I have really gotten back into twitter (@cindymadrid08) and instagram (cindymadrid08) again.  I can't get enough.  What can't you get enough of lately?

Girls and Football

One of my favorite films to come out recently is Just Wright.  Queen Latifah stars as a physical therapist hired to care for an injured NBA player played by the rapper common.  One scene in particular really stood out to me. Queen Latifah’s character, Leslie Wright, is getting ready to go to a NBA game with her god sister Morgan, played by Paula Patton.  Morgan comes out in heels and a short tight dress. Leslie comes out in jeans, sneakers and a jersey.  They both look at each other and question why the other is dressed that way. For Morgan going to a NBA game means going to catch a ball playing boyfriend.  While going to a NBA game means going to watch a sport that she loves for Leslie.  These two characters are the perfect example of female sports fans, those who love the players and those who love the game.

I consider myself someone who loves football.  Don’t get me wrong I love a cute guy.  I especially love when they take their shirts off after the match.  Most importantly, I am fascinated by the game.  I am fairly new to the sport and don’t claim to know everything.  I am excited to learn everything about the sport though.  I don’t know all the rules but I feel I know enough to feel confident when yelling at the referee.  If there is something that I don’t understand I will ask or find out for myself.  One thing I hate is being made to feel like an idiot by some guy because I don’t know something.  I don’t get why guys do that.  Wouldn’t you want your girlfriend to be as into your sport as you are?  Wouldn’t you want to be able to discuss it with her?  Or do guys even think about that? I think that guys would be surprised at what we might say.  Women have a way of looking at things in a totally different way.

I have a basic understanding of the offside rule.  Although I will admit it had to be explained to me with a shopping reference.  But the point is I understand it.  Even if a woman doesn’t understand the offside rule that doesn’t mean that they love the game any less.

Many believe that women can’t possibly know sports as well as a man could.  Many don’t believe that women can participate in sports as players or referees on the same level as men can.  I disagree somewhat.  I don’t want to see female players in professional football.  Females should play alongside females.  It’s not that I don’t think that they are capable; I just believe that they are different.  I have no problem with females being referees.  It’s not rocket science guys.  Women can learn the rules just the same as men can.

A true fan is a fan no matter how good or bad a team is doing.  A true fan is a fan no matter what players come and go.  Some women get caught up in the looks of the players and the glamorous lives that they perceive them to have.  A true fan of the game doesn’t care about that.  No matter if you are male or female, it’s about the game.
